I love this knife/multitool/whatever you want to call it and it’s no secret. I’ve tested it on many hiking, camping and survival expeditions over the past couple of years.
I think that when you set out to buy a tool of any kind, as an individual, you have a list of boxes that you want it to tick. Unfortunately the cost factor does come into most people’ s purchasing decisions and finding that perfect balance between price and quality can often be the most critical part. In the case of the Gerber Crucial Multitool, price wasn’t really a big factor for me for two reasons. Firstly, I don’t put price in front of quality on an equipment purchase that could potentially save my life one day and secondly, this Gerber tool is quite reasonably priced next to other comparable brands that it almost doesn’t enter the decision making process. Other influences on a purchase of this nature are obviously the features it has, size and even weight. At the end of the day, it ticked all of the boxes for me personally hence the reason that I put together the gear review with Craig to share the experience with all of you.
As always, our gear reviews are non-biased, honest and based on our own personal preferences and requirements. Take from it what you will but ultimately I hope it at least helps you consider what things to keep in mind when choosing a multi-tool.
Enjoy,
Tom Griffin
